Or how about that year that just isn't your year. Well not for me or Steph but the poor woman that I work pretty closely with. This poor woman can not catch a break. It all started over a year ago. She was set to be out 8-12 weeks for having hand surgery. So the schedule went as follows, I was to work 7:30-6 Monday through Thursday and then 7:30-4. Now that doesn't sound so bad and it wasn't except for the fact that I was glued to my desk and I couldn't get up and walk or stretch whenever I wanted. I had set breaks and that was that. LAME. She was due back February 28 or so. Well February came and went and then she was due back mid March. March came and went and then was going to be back the beginning of April. I have been working 46 hours a week for 81 days. Talk about getting old. Again it would be so bad if I wasn't glued to the desk, that is so hard for me! Anyway April was approaching and bam, she wasn't going to be back until the middle of April, CRAP! I was beyond frustrated by this point. Getting your hopes up and them having them shot down so many times was really hard for me. Anyway she finally came back and that was SO wonderful.
Well in June she ends up getting pneumonia and being out for 2 full weeks. So again I am working 7:30-6 but this time it is Monday-Friday. YIPPEE!!! A little frustrating but it could always be worse. She gets back and seems okay and then bam the first week of September she is out because she is sick. Turns out it is pneumonia. Again. I am not sure you read that right AGAIN! Not only is she out, but she is out 4 full weeks. 4 full weeks of me working 7:30-6 every.single.day. Talk about frustrating. Not only did I work how many freaking hours at the beginning of the year, now I am doing it all over again. So freaking frustrating. Even more frustrating when you hear this. So she is a smoker. I bet she has smoked for 50 years. If someone told me that my liver was failing I wouldn't go out and buy a 12pack to celebrate it, would you? So if you found out you had pneumonia AGAIN wouldn't you try your hardest to stop smoking? Maybe that is just me, maybe I am the odd one to be doing that! Anyway so she comes back in the beginning of October and that is great. Finally things are going well. There were a couple days she was out for being sick and what not but things finally seemed to be looking upward for her.
So yesterday she stands up and takes two steps and falls to the ground. Seriously fell down walking. There was nothing in her way to trip on. Nothing that could have made her trip. We weren't having an earthquake! NOTHING! And sure as shit she falls down. So she gets up and I help her to her chair and she is in a little pain and then a couple minutes later she says to me "I think I broke my foot." I shrug it off and say well it might not be broken but I bet you did strain it pretty bad. Her son comes and gets her to take her to the ER and here I am again glued to the front desk. She calls back after being seen and I guess she has broken her foot in two places and won't be in the rest of the week. Can she catch a break? Not only do I feel bad for her but I feel pretty sorry for myself because I am the one that gets the ass end of the deal in this situation. So she is out the rest of this week and that sucks because tomorrow I was supposed to be off to have a nice long 4 day weekend but NOooo not now. I actually shouldn't be mad about that I offered to come in but I felt so bad for the rest of the people that would have to stay and help out. Especially since most of the back up is out for vacation. WHAT.A.BUMMER.RIGHT?!
So anyway that is my rant of the year. The most annoying thing that has happened all year. I just hope this is the final straw for her and for me for that matter. I am really tired of working double duty and trying to keep things under control! Anyway, I promise not to rant anymore about this.
Cheers to the freakin weekend, I'll drink to that!
xoxo
